1:1 Divorce Coaching Explained:
What is coaching?
Here is my favourite description of how coaching works.
Coaching is like YOU driving in a car and looking out the front windshield. The view out YOUR windshield is YOUR future. What direction YOU choose and the speed YOU move are YOUR choice.
A coach like me is your travel companion and navigator – I ride shotgun. I can help you start moving in the direction that you want to go and keep you moving towards your dreams. I can make the ride quicker, more comfortable and much more fun.
What you see in your rearview mirror is your past. What you have packed into your trunk is your baggage, issues that were created in your past. You may even be dragging a trailer full of big issues. The therapists and counsellors can help with your baggage and history. As I coach, I may look over your baggage, but I am much more interested in moving towards your dream destination. Sometimes, I suggest people find a therapist to help them purge and repack some of their baggage! Therapists and I often work with you at the same time to speed up your journey.
In summary, as a coach, I focus on where you would like to go and the best route to get you to your dream destination. Coaching is very future-focused and positive.
In hindsight, I wish I had known everything would be okay when I was going through my breakup. I can assure you; YOU WILL BE OKAY! Divorce is a little like a roller coaster ride with big ups and downs, but the journey will smooth out over time. You really do control what you create in your life – as your coach I help you decide where you want to end up and get you there taking the best route possible!
Testimonial:
“After driving halfway across the US to begin the separation from my husband, I was in the most difficult of places. Knowing I needed help, but knowing a traditional therapist couldn’t continue on with me once I headed back home, I happened to stumble on Pam’s blog. After reading much of her writings, I knew I had to work with her, and I will never be more grateful that I did. With tremendous help on her part and a lot of work on my part, I am at such a place of peace and acceptance that I could not have even dreamed possible when we started talking. I would highly recommend her coaching services as they certainly changed my life!” C.B. Texas

Coaching programs for 1:1 clients:
UNDECIDED?
Should I or shouldn’t I get a divorce?
If you are uncertain about the future of your marriage and feeling unsure about how to proceed – coaching can help you clarify the issues and what you need to work through before you make any big decisions. Discover if a divorce really is the best solution for you and your family. Please weigh out all your options before you make your decision.
UNWILLING?
How do I handle something I never asked for?
Did you get blindsided by the request for a divorce? Are you feeling rejected and overwhelmed? I can help you find your strengths, your confidence after an unwanted and unwelcome breakup! I actually was there myself many years ago and I wish I had access to a coach like me to help me manage better!
PREPARING?
How do I prepare for my divorce?
If you are sure you want to end your marriage – coaching can help you figure out how to start the process in a kinder and healthier way. Planning really does help – a process started with forethought and a plan will usually be better for everyone involved especially the children. I can help you plan out what you want, get everything you need organized and help you prepare yourself and your loved ones for the process.
PROCEEDING?
How do I proceed with the business of my divorce?
Once you decide to separate and move into action – the business of divorce needs to be separated from the emotional aspects that tend to overwhelm and sabotage people as they negotiate the divorce process. Coaching can help keep your emotions out of your legal and financial decisions. Remaining clear on how to create the healthy family you desire through this stage is critical to obtaining what every family wants – both well-adjusted and happy children and co-parents or two well-adjusted ex-partners!
REBUILDING?
Once the divorce is ‘done’ – what should I do now?
If you are feeling stuck, unworthy, guilty or unsure of who you are now – Coaching can truly help you become more confident and sure of yourself. Coaching can also help you explore your new status and how it can be a benefit for you. There really are positives in every negative thing we go through in life. Where do you want to be in 2, 5 and 10 years? How do you want to be feeling? How do you want your life to play out? The clean slate of divorce is an invitation to create what you want so let’s make a plan and move into action! Coaching can help you reach your full potential as you stretch, learn and grow in this sometimes uncomfortable stage.

More Testimonials:
“Separation and divorce are amongst life’s most difficult challenges. It is a period of transition fraught with sadness, fear, and anger; negative emotions that can lead to all kinds of irrational, catastrophic thoughts. And this can result in poor choices and decisions which do not enhance the likelihood of peaceful resolution and longer-term serenity. By having a coach like Pam, you will have a ‘game plan.’ This plan is holistic in its approach. Pam will help you identify functional goals congruent with your core values, or “Best Self.” By sticking to the plan, you will take the necessary steps to deal with practical issues (e,g. legal/financial) and taking care of your personal well-being (mental/emotional state, relationships etc.). Like any good coach, Pam will review and update your plan, and hold you accountable. She’s patient and a good listener. I highly recommend Pam for anyone who’s feeling a little disjointed as they try and navigate through separation and divorce.” – G.R. Hamilton
“After almost a year of going to Pam’s divorce and separation meetups, I felt confident enough to push for separation and seek legal actions in the first stage of my divorce. My first step was hiring Pam to help guide me and connect me with the right people. Without her, I highly doubt I would have been able to do this. I was able to keep weekly goals, push for resolutions and keep my mental and physical health on track. Don’t go to a lawyer first. Pam is your first step in a divorce and separation situation even if you think you might be able to save your marriage like I did or think it might go straight to lawyers. She helps keep things in calm, clear, perspective understanding the emotional difficulties of her clients.” – A.S. Hamilton
“I am very grateful to her for all her hard work and would highly recommend Pam Mirehouse to any individual who requires assistance with his or her matrimonial matters.” – C.C. London
“I used Pam to help me through my divorce. She was an amazing professional very well educated, kind-hearted and very helpful. I went in with the unknown and came out so much better with a different view on how I’m going to let divorce affect me. I am in a wonderful place in the house and I have Pam to thank.” – M.S. Stoney Creek
